How do I replace a piece of furniture in an existing photo?

Add the photo and the packshot of the new piece to a chat, list everything that must stay (room, other pieces, camera, light), then ask for only the old piece to be replaced by the new one in the same position, size and angle. The recording does this with a sofa in 86 seconds.

Does the rest of the room really stay the same?

The prompt is built so it does: the list of what stays comes first, the single change last. In the recording the armchair, the coffee table, the rug, the plant and the window light are unchanged in both renders. Compare the before and after pairs above.

Can I remove furniture from a photo?

Yes. The second step removes the armchair and the coffee table and keeps everything else, with the scene as the only reference. The same prompt shape works for clearing a room for a single-product hero or for a "before" image.

Why remove the original references before the second prompt?

So the only reference is the scene you want to edit. With the old room photo and the sofa packshot still attached, the render could pull the grey sofa or the packshot background back in. Removing them is one click each on the thumbnails.
