Visualizee for SketchUp
Install the Visualizee extension for SketchUp, render the current view photoreal in one click, then edit the render by typing. Requirements, sign-in, what is sent and troubleshooting.
Visualizee for SketchUp is a free extension that sends the view you are looking at to Visualizee Studio and renders it photoreal. The render keeps your geometry, openings and camera. After the first render you edit by typing, in a panel next to your model, and every version stays in your Visualizee workspace.
Requirements
You need desktop SketchUp 2023 or newer (Pro or Studio) on Windows or macOS, an internet connection while you render, and a Visualizee account. If you do not have an account yet, you create one during sign-in. Try it free: your first render is on us. Plans and what each one includes are on the pricing page.
SketchUp for Web and SketchUp for iPad do not run extensions. On those, save a screenshot of your view and upload it in the Visualizee web app; the result is the same.
Install
- In SketchUp open Extensions > Extension Warehouse.
- Search for Visualizee and click Install.
- A Visualizee toolbar appears, and Extensions > Visualizee gets two entries: Render this view and Open panel.
If you downloaded the .rbz file instead, open Extensions > Extension Manager, click Install Extension and pick the file.
Your first render
- Frame the view you want in SketchUp, the way you would for a screenshot.
- Click Render this view. The panel opens with the view already captured, at the shape of your viewport.
- The first time, the panel asks you to sign in (see the next section).
- Click Make it photoreal. You do not need to type anything. If you want something specific, add a short note first, for example "oak floor, evening light" or "snowy winter morning".
A render at the default quality usually arrives in under a minute.
Sign in once
Google and Apple do not allow sign-in inside an embedded window, so the panel pairs with your browser instead:
- The panel shows a short code, such as
K7Q-4MX, and a Sign in button. - Click it. Your normal browser opens visualizee.app. Sign in or sign up with Google, Apple or email.
- Check that the code in the browser matches the one in the panel and click Connect SketchUp.
- Within a couple of seconds the panel notices and continues with your capture.
The code expires after 10 minutes. If it does, click Sign in again for a new one.
Edit by typing
After the first render, type what to change and what to keep, the way you would say it to a colleague:
- "Change the cladding to charred timber. Keep everything else."
- "Make the sofa cream boucle and the floor herringbone oak."
- "Same house at blue hour after fresh snow, interior lights on."
Each render becomes a new version. You can compare versions, go back to any of them and continue from there. If something you did not ask for moves, say so in the next message or mark the area so the change stays inside it.
There are no masks to paint. The names of the materials in your view go along with the capture as plain text, so "Floor_Oak" or "Brick_Red" already tell the render what each surface is. Naming materials clearly in SketchUp helps, but it is not required: an untextured white model works too.
New views
Orbit or switch scenes in SketchUp, then click Re-capture in the panel or Render this view again. Every capture becomes its own Studio project, filed in a folder named after your model (for example SketchUp/House Smith), so all views of one model stay together in your workspace.
Leaving the panel
- Open in Visualizee opens the project in your browser, with the full app: chat with Vizzy, video, side-by-side variations.
- Download saves the full-resolution render to a folder you choose.
- Plans, credits and billing always open in your browser, never inside SketchUp.
What is sent, and privacy
When you click Render this view, the extension sends:
- an image of the current view (PNG, long edge 2048 px),
- the model name and scene name, and the model's units,
- the camera: perspective or parallel, field of view, how steeply it looks down and how high it sits above the model,
- the names, colours and texture file names of up to 40 materials visible in the view.
Your .skp file is never uploaded, and the extension does not change your model, so there is nothing to undo. Visualizee does not use your uploads or renders to train any AI model, and you can delete them at any time. See the privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
- The panel stays blank. Check your internet connection and that a firewall or proxy allows
visualizee.app. Close the panel and click Render this view again. - Sign in does nothing. The browser opens in the background on some systems; look for a new browser tab. You can also open Extensions > Visualizee > Open panel and click Sign in again.
- Signed in as the wrong account. Use Sign out in the panel's account menu, then sign in again.
- Anything else. Write to [email protected] with your SketchUp version and operating system. Messages from the extension appear in Extensions > Developer > Ruby Console, prefixed
[Visualizee]; pasting them into the email helps.
Uninstall
Open Extensions > Extension Manager, find Visualizee and click Uninstall. Your renders stay in your Visualizee workspace.
